The Giant Gila Monster
A perfect pace of 1950s cheesy goodness. Sure it can be too idealistic at times, the effects aren't good and the songs are too sappy. Yes, it is way too easy to be cynical about The Giant Gila Monster. The movie works despite all it's short comings and is genuinely, most because of the people who made it. They made a good pace of escapist entertainment.
Yonggary(1999) A cheeseball Korean remake of a 60s Korean Kaiju movie disguised as a cheeseball American monster movie made to cash in the 1998 Godzilla. To put it simply, Yonggary/Reptilian is the Troll 2 of Kaiju movies.
The CGI effects used look really bad, and worse still there were plans to use practical effects with decent-looking miniatures and monster suits. Which were covered up with crap CGI, but can still be seen in some shots. Why they did this is baffling.
The acting is cheese and over the top, with odd dialogue choices. Like in the same scene, the evil archaeologist says "It isn't real!" and " You're my creation! I made you! ". Which has to be up there with "oh my gooooooddd!" from Troll 2.

Monster From The Ocean Floor I like the idea of what this tried, more than the execution. The giant amoeba is weird looking and a little creepy, but sadly underwhelming. Mostly due to the budget and it being the first film from the legendary Roger Corman.

Mega Shark vs. Giant Octopus
This was worse than I remember. The title monsters are given incredibly little screen time and they do show up. the camera goes all crazy with the editing. I didn't remember it being this bad. The acting is either bad or like Lorenzo Lamas, full-on not giving a shit mode. Debbie Gibson is the worst actor in this, she goes throughout the film with a big dumb grin. I don't know why this has been given the title of clut classic by some people. This movie was always bad, I just forgot how bad.

MEN (2022)
Finally saw it. The film I think it is a metaphor for dealing with PTSD from a abusive relationship. Which is why I said earlier in the chat that this was a hard film to watch because I actually know women who have gone through this in my life. They thought me to be a little more sensitive, so I try my best to be better ever since then. This film also is kinda like Darren Aronofsky's mother! Except mother! has the mothernature aspect of it.
This movie is difficult to recommend, though. Because some women with PTSD may have troube watching this, some men may see it as sexist, and general audiences will think it is stupid because it makes no sense to them (kinda like what happened with mother!). I thought I was going to give this movie a lower rating in the beginning there, but now my rating went up. Only because I think a film like this is necessary.
7/10

King Kong (76) While not as good or as groundbreaking as the original King Kong, the 76 remake has its charms that make up for the shortcomings.
Yes, there aren't any dinosaurs for Kong to fight in this. They were planned but to due time and budget constraints as well as Carlo Rambaldi's 40ft mechanical Kong cost around 1.7 million. Jim Danforth was asked to do stop-motion effects for the film but turned it down. Would I have loved it if this had dinosaurs in it, yes. But, it never happened and I still enjoy the film anyway. Rick Baker's effects are dam good and is the best King Kong suit used in film. Kong in this is a tragic figure, but it doesn't go overboard with it. The whole movie is a tragedy. The doomed romance between Jack and Dawn is a strong highlight of the film.

Ape Vs. Monster I would like to hope that Asylum has improved since Mega Shark vs. Giant Octopus. All the back in came out way 2009, yeah, they have. But, it's not by very much.
The camera work when the monsters appear, doesn't look like what you see when you get pushed down the stairs. Sadly, that's the best complement I can give this movie. It tries ape Godzilla movies in terms of plot and Monster action, but the cheap out by bearly showing it. The fight between the two monsters is over in seconds.
When monster movies on a similar, or lower budget, are showing more of their monsters. The Asylum has no real excuse for not showing people want. Especially when some of their other movies are showing a lot more. Hell, even the Dinosaur Hotel films have more monster action than this.
