No One Will Save You (2023) A bit late on this one, since I don't use Hulu that much due to ads. About 2/3rds of this is a pretty good and effective chiller that excels at building tension and keeping the viewer on edge constantly. Kaitlyn Dever delivers a strong performance and manages to convey plenty of emotion with very little dialogue. Unfortunately, the movie kind of falls apart in the 3rd act with an unnecessarily confusing and bizarre climax that's too much of a departure from most of the movie's simplicity. With a better ending this could've been great, but as is it's still a fairly solid thriller. 7/10 Never finished No One Will Save You for some random reason. At that time I was drinking, so I must have forgotten.

Time Bandits (1981)
It was a charming family fantasy adventure little (no pun intended) film from the 80s. They really don't make movies like this like they use to. Ending was like, WTF, though. It was like, dark humor for kids. This is not my type of movie, but you still appreciate gems like this.
7/10.

Society of the Snow (2023)
A riveting, harrowing, gut wrenching, and emotional experience. With excellent cinematography and direction that conveys the dread and horror of the situation very well, and great performances all around. A few lulls in the pacing and a familiar structure aside, this film is really good. 8/10

One of the survivors even did an interview talking about the cannibalism involved.

Wonka (2023)
I like it. Need to rewatch it again, though. Kinda felt like a mob movie, but with candy. Wasn't expecting that, even though the trailer hints at it.

Next Goal Wins (2023)
It was okay. Very Taika Waititi-ish dialogue, though. Couldn't stop picturing him saying these lines in my head. Better than Thor: Love and Thunder I'll say that at least.

Poor Things. Emma Stone is on a whole another level!

Priscilla (2023) Despite the semi-creep factor in the beginning, it was okay. 2022's Elvis biopic with Austin Butler was better, though. Having said that, this movie focuses more on Elvis' ex Priscilla and her prospective. Recommend the movie for any Elvis fan, or if you want to do a double feature with this and the 2022 Elvis biopic. 6/10

Saving Mr. Banks (2013)
I thought this was a good movie. Wish Disney would put out more films like this. I also liked how they addressed Walt Disney's drinking and smoking habits. I mean, it was still limited of course, but at least Disney (the company) acknowledged that Walt wasn't the saint as he appeared to be around children. Tom Hanks does a great job bringing Walt's charisma on screen, like he was in real life. Anyway, if you never seen this movie before, give it a shot. You don't have to be a fan of Mary Poppins to get into it.

Past Lives (2023)
Honestly, there isn't a major flaw that I can pinpoint with this film, it's fine for what it is, but it's just not really for me. I generally don't find this type of romance drama to be that entertaining, and this was no exception. I was kind of bored watching it, but recommended to those who like that type of movie. 6.5/10

Naked Lunch (1991)
This film was like Fear and Loathing In Las Vegas, only darker and trippier. Peter Weller made it easier to watch it all the way through. I need some time to let this movie sink in, so for now I'm not going to give it a rating. Difficult movie to recommend because it is so weird. All I will say is that if you are a fan of David Cronenberg's other work, give this a shot (no pun intended).

UPDATE: You probably have look into the author's backstory in order to truly get Naked Lunch. The author, William S. Burroughs, accidently killed his wife in the 1950s. Which I believe kept him going as a writer. So there are elements of the author's life in Naked Lunch.

Nimona (2023)
Well, I'll be damned, this movie flew under my radar for so long, since I thought the animation looked a bit off-putting at a glance and there wasn't a ton of buzz surrounding it. Although the blend of 2D/3D animation takes a little getting used to at first, this movie is actually pretty good! Nimona is an endearing and energetic character with a great vocal performance from Chloƫ Grace Moretz, and her dynamic with the more soft-spoken knight is really fun. There's also a surprising amount of heart and emotion on display for a modern animated film, watching this days after Kung Fu Panda 4 puts into more perspective what that movie was lacking. While perhaps not wholly original, to me this movie combined elements from other work to make for a unique experience, a bit like what The Creator did. The animation can look a bit unpolished and take on a mobile game-esque appearance at times, but that's more forgivable given the passion on display elsewhere and that this movie almost ceased to exist (Disney shut down Blue Sky Studios during production, then Netflix picked this up sometime after). There is some occasional childish humor that's at odds with the movie's more mature themes, but otherwise this is an overlooked gem that deserved more attention (it was nominated for the Animated Feature Oscar at least). 8/10

All That Jazz (1979)
This was good. Really dug it. Main character is unlikeable, though. But you are still invested in his journey through out the film. Musical performances and cinematography were excellent as well.

The Creator I give it 3 out of 5 stars 3 out of 5 sounds about right. Didn't love it, but I liked it. Don't think it does anything new, though. It takes a lot of ideas from other sci-fi films. Still, the execution was well done.

Moon Garden (2022) Really enjoyed this little gem. Especially considering that there is no execuse discontinuing 35mm film. Big name filmamkers bitch and moan about how "hard" shooting in 35mm is, yet a group of unknowns were still able to do it and make a decent movie. But yeah, if you enjoy movies like I Kill Giants and Where The Wild Things Are, then I recommend Moon Garden. It has that same theme of a child's fear and emotions through magical-realism. 7/10

The Rabid remake from the Soska sisters, I was a bit hasten about this. As in a lot of early interviews with them, the Soskas came a cross as trying too hard to be horror fans. Thankfully, that was me being stupid.
This is a dam good movie that is just as good as the original and can stand on it's own as it's own thing.
