Saltburn (2023)
I couldn't find a thread for this movie here, but fuck it! It doesn't deserve one. This was quite the endurance test honestly. I pretty much hated all of the characters, they're walking stereotypes who are aggressively unlikable and have very shallow character development and depth. I also found it to unbelievably pretentious and boring throughout, despite the occasional gratuitous "look how edgy we are" moments, there were not enough of those moments to keep me from being bored out of my damn mind and wanting this film to end already. The scenes not being necessary to the plot doesn't matter much when there's barely any plot to get invested in to begin with. Apparently this was supposed to be comedic, but I laughed zero times, and I almost never felt tense. Outside of the gross-out scenes I didn't feel anything beyond pure boredom. The ending plot twist is so predictable that I hesitate to actually call it a plot twist. The pacing is also wildly uneven, scenes are either too quick or drag out too long with no in-between.
All the movie has going for it is that the cinematography looks pretty good, and the actors' performances are fine given the material they have to work with. It's possible that something like this was never going to be my cup of tea, but due to the buzz surrounding it, I gave it a chance to entertain me and it most definitely did not. 3/10

Polite Society (2023)
Another movie from last year that I can't find a thread for. Unlike Saltburn, I did get some enjoyment out of this one. It's definitely different and original. For a feature film directorial debut it's quite well made with a unique style and rhythm. It's paced nicely, the main characters are charismatic, it's generally funny, and the fight sequences are interesting. Although, the twist reveal is too bizarre and doesn't fit that well with the rest of the movie, there are a couple awkward and uncomfortable scenes (I'm a tad surprised that this managed a PG-13), and the fight sequences while decent can overindulge with the slow motion. Also, this is probably one of the worst examples in recent years of a trailer spoiling the entire film. 7/10

The Untold Story.
This movie is fucked and it's reputation for being so is well and truly deserved. An entire family, mostly made up of young children, get brutally murdered in front, gutted, cut up into pork buns and unknowingly eaten by dozens of people. I'm not easily shocked, and this has left shocked.

The Untold Story looks fucked up. Just that one image of those kids tied up already has me disturbed.

I see that The Untold Story is based on a true story. What is even more disturbing is that it sounds pretty accurate to the real life horrors, based from what I am reading anyway.

8/10 Not as good as Clear and Present Danger, but it is still solid.

8/10 This one is solid as well, despite not having Harrison Ford. Actually, Harrison Ford was suppose to be in this, but turned it down. They were only able to finally get Harrison Ford for the other ones when the other actor, who shell not be named, wanted more money to make the other adaptations. The producers were like, with that kinda money we might as well get Harrison Ford.

7/10 Not as good as the first three Jack Ryan films, but I thought this one was underrated. My only nitpicks are, well not nitpicks per se, but feels more apocalyptic than your usual 90s style thriller like the originals. Also I'm a tad bit conflicted about Ben Affleck as Jack Ryan. Ben Affleck would have been a better Jack Ryan if he was playing him today. But I get that Jack Ryan is suppose to be younger in this. I'm just saying, Young Affleck doesn't exactly have that presence, but again, that's the story they are telling. Now, two more Jack Ryan films left to watch.

7/10 This one was good too, despite not being based on any of the books. Which I found kinda odd. Especially considering that there are still some Jack Ryan novels that haven't been adapted yet. Though, one of the filmmakers did say that one of the books was too difficult to adapt, so had to settle with The Sum of all Fears. So I'm guessing it is a similar situation with Shadow Recruit. Now, one more Jack Ryan-releated film to go. Though, won't be able to watch it today. Amazon Prime exlusive. One of my family members has Firestick, so I'll see it some other time. Then at some point down the road, I'll watch the TV series, since it has ended or ending anyway.

Sin City: A Dame to Kill For (2014)
5/10
After years and years and YEARS I FINALLY seen this shit. Not only is it WAY too late for a sequel, but this movie was slopply made. The first movie was structured a lot better with keeping the three stories together nicely. This sequel is a mess, though. Like, the timelines makes no sense. They went nowhere with Joseph Gordon-Levitt's story arc at all. Very unfocused movie. I guess it is trying to be like Pulp Fiction, in the way it tells its story, and not be your usual anthology film. Except this ain't no damn Pulp Fiction. If it was, then it is more like Pulp Fiction if it was drunk. Drunk Fiction is more like it. The ending was a big "fuck you" to the audiences. Making us wait all those years, and just end the movie like that!? Despite my ranting, I don't hate the movie. As a fan of the original, I can nitpick this sequel to death. More like a sequel to The Spirit than an actual Sin City 2.

Undeclared War.
Ringo Lam is top forum with this violent, international, heroic bloodshed/buddy cop movie. Has all the cool shot outs and amazing stunt work, plus Vernon Wells as one most ruthless villains I've seen in a long time. Mother fucker kills a baby with a hand grenade!

Escape from Alcatraz (1979)
7/10
It was okay. Felt like Shawshank Redemption-lite at times, despite being based on a true story. I still recommend the movie, but Shawshank Redemption is much better. I shouldn't compare the two, but I can't help it.

Destroy All Neighbours. This is crap. Just a non stop bombardment of loud, incoherent ramblings masquerading as "comedy" that just got worse as it went on and on. There was zero breathing room in between the "jokes". Which, as I said is just non stop loud, incoherent, yelling and people being out right jerks or passive aggressive jerks.
I've seen people say that this a gore fest with great effects. I don't know what movie they're watching, because this isn't it. I have seen gore, this was very tame in the gore. The impalement sence was ruined by blurry cgi. The only good thing about this, is the character make up used on Alex Winter.
Destroy All Neighbours is completely obnoxious, stupid and unfunny, don't waste your time with it.
