The Rabid remake from the Soska sisters, I was a bit hasten about this. As in a lot of early interviews with them, the Soskas came a cross as trying too hard to be horror fans. Thankfully, that was me being stupid. This is a dam good movie that is just as good as the original and can stand on it's own as it's own thing. Have to watch it now since the original is directed by David Cronenberg. He plays a good villain too.

BlackBerry (2023)
A quite enjoyable and interesting fast-paced film with sharp and witty dialogue, naturally integrated humor, and strong performances, especially from Glen Howerton who gives it his all and totally nails the psychotic co-CEO role. Although the pacing is a little too erratic at times, leaving some aspects underdeveloped, and the constant zoom-ins throughout in the style of The Office can be a bit distracting. 7/10

Freeway 2.
This is pure nasty, sleazy, punk exploitation cinema at finest. A career criminal and nyphomanic serial killer escape from prison and high tail it to Mexico, leaving a trail of bodies in their way. Once there, seek help from an older woman, who turns out to be an cannibalistic, transgender witch running a cp cult.
That's a lot to take in, and it could have gone wrong. Thankfully, it doesn't show of the later. We do see the pedo cult get gunned down.

Dream Scenario (2023)
Strange concept for a movie. I don't even know what to say. It is about man appearing in people's dreams. Sounds like fun, but it actually turns into a nightmare (no pun intended).

Ricky Stanicky (2023)
This new R-rated comedy on Prime Video was apparently a spec script that dates back to 2010, and it definitely feels as such, it even has an animated opening credit sequence. The reason the movie kind of works is that John Cena excels in the role of washed up actor for hire, he nails the comedic timing and is responsible for 99% of this movie's laughs. The other leads don't provide many laughs, Zac Efron stands around looking confused and upset for most of the runtime. Speaking of which, a simple gimmicky concept like this shouldn't be pushing 2 hours. The shtick wears thin as most of the gags are stretched out as long as possible to bloat the runtime. Then there's a weird almost happily ever after type ending where there was little consequence to anything. This is not a total loss thanks to Cena's very committed performance, but ultimately it falls into the large bin of disposable comedies. 6/10

Truck Turner
An amazing, over looked, action classic.
Three The Hard Way
Not as good I thought it would be, felt like it lacked focus by having three big action stars of the day, doing pretty much the same thing.

A Man Called Otto
Decent remake. I would give it 3 stars out of 5. But the original movie is still way better.

Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire.
Not as bad as some people have said it was, but not that good either.

Anatomy of a Fall (2023) This Best Picture nominated and Best Original Screenplay winner falls into the "fine but not really for me" bucket alongside Past Lives. I just had a hard time getting invested in the film, partly due to its excessive runtime which constantly meanders and drags scenes out as long as possible. Also, for someone who was apparently innocent, the lead character is oddly unsympathetic and distant. That said, the acting, dialogue, and directing are still good enough (the young actor Milo Machado-Graner puts in a very strong performance) to make this a serviceable watch. 6/10

Dinosaur Hotel 3, yes a third one, is the best of the Dinosaur Hotel films. Due to the horrible child actors not returning and being most competently made of the trilogy. That's where my complements end, as this is just as bland and bull as movie about human dinosaur bloodsport can be.

All of Us Strangers (2023) My thoughts on this are pretty much identical to my thoughts on Past Lives, it's well-made and well-acted, but just didn't resonate with me much. 6.5/10
Freelance (2023) 108 minutes of my life that are gone forever. It's horribly directed and written, badly acted (I enjoy Cena in other stuff but he needs a decent script), there's zero chemistry, it's not even remotely funny, and it's so BORING. Towards the end I had to start looking at the wall because of how mind-numbing this was. Also, did she really ask him "are you okay?" while he was getting fucking strangled??? The end credit bloopers were nice I guess, otherwise fuck this shit. Now my 2nd least favorite movie of last year. 2/10

The Omen (1976) - Good horror flick!
8/10
Damien: The Omen II (1978) - It was decent. Doesn't really do anything new except Damien accepting his destiny really.
7/10
The Omen III: The Final Conflict (1981) - I enjoyed this one, mostly because of Sam Neil playing a full grown adult Damien. He brings charisma to the character and carries the film, despite being pure evil. Having said that, this movie has one major problem... Baby Jesus. Who was he? Was he even born? Why murder all those babies if not? Because of that plot hole, I can't give this a higher rating.
6/10 (and that is me being generous).

Champions (2023) An overlong, predictable, and largely unoriginal sports comedy still provides enough heart, chuckles, and decent performances to make it a pleasant enough watch, even if it's by no means a standout amongst the genre. 6.5/10
The Sea Beast (2022) Netflix animated film that isn't as good as Nimona, but still a solid watch. Basically How to Train Your Dragon fused with Moana. It's a bit too long, but it has some pretty nice animation, cool creature designs, good action scenes, decent characters, some fun banter, and a decent (if predictable) story. 7.5/10

Hydra (2009) This movie has some interesting ideas but doesn't do much with them. I like the idea of a Most Dangerous Game type movie where the hunters are going after people who have wronged them. That alone would be an interesting movie.
It also just uses surface-level knowledge of Greek mythology. They also put a lot of effort into making the Hydra look cool. Here, the heads look like deep-sea eels. I liked that, too bad it doesn't look the best due to the CGI used. I'll give them a pass here, as most TV CGI around this time was just starting to look good.

Ronin (1998)
Meh. This movie was OKAY. It is pretty average actually. In some ways dated. By dated I mean it doesn't try to be anything more than just a 90s action thriller, with studios relying on star power. Don't get me wrong, this is not a bad movie at all. It is well made. It just felt like a very diet-Robert De Niro film. If you read the plot synopsis, you know exactly what you are getting. Again, not a bad movie, but don't think I'll ever watch it again either.

The Amazing Colossal Man is better than should be. It has surprisingly good acting and psychological depth that keeps it just above its b-movie standing. Glenn Langan gives a very spirited proformance here, as a man going insane from becoming a giant. It's definitely one of Mr B.I.G's better films. Sure the effects haven't aged the best, but I feel like that the story and acting due out shine them.
This movie gets alot of comparisons to The Hulk. It's the same basic story starting out, a guy turns into a monster from exposerie from an experimental nuclear bomb explosion while saving someone from it. I don't know if Stan Lee or Jack Kirby had seen the film before they created The Hulk, or if it's just a huge coincidence.
I just wish it could official available on DVD and Blu-ray.

Just checked, there is no official US release of The Amazing Colossal Man either. It hasn't had a home media release since 1993. Blame Susan Hart, she been keeping this and ten other AIP movies locked away from getting new releases. People have tried to get them, but she's been asking stupid money for rights.
