This month is cursed. The Marvels, Hunger Games, Napoleon, and now Wish all get middling reviews. I especially don't think this is what Disney wanted for their 100th anniversary special.

2023 is NOT a good year for Disney. It's not just our internet circle, I think general audiences are catching on.

This movie was "fine", but it feels more like a typical Disney movie rather than a big 100th anniversary blowout. I like the animation style, it has decent songs, decent characters, a decent villain, a decent but familiar story. Nothing really bad about it but nothing really stands out either. I don't regret seeing it, but you guys are okay waiting for it to be on Disney+.
Also, it does feel like this movie tries to mimic Shrek a lot of the time. It even opens and closes with a book opening/closing just like the Shrek movies, which is ironic because Shrek was made out of spite against Disney.

Well since Barbie kind of sucked it's unfortunate that it's the only big hit of the year (even though Mario and Oppenheimer absolutely were huge hits)

Doesn't help that their animation has dropped off. Toy Story 4 looked fucking beautiful. Their other projects after that haven't had that much quality in it. I'd say perhaps Soul was the last decent looking one. Now the spider-verse movies are owning the animation spotlight, and rightly so.
