What movie would be an example of Elevated Horror? A Ghost Story, Under The Skin, Green Room and The Girl With All The Gifts.

What movie would be an example of Elevated Horror? Midsommar, Badabook, and any other stuck-up full of itself films that critics swear is the future of horror. Oh the pretend arthouse stuff. My new pet peeve is movies that cut to black and do not explain anything.

I think there's an important distinction between scared and dread or uneasiness. I'm only "scared" at jump scares because I'm easily startled. But lots of horror movies have an effect on me. The ending of the original Blair Witch creeped me the fuck out.

Return of the Living Dead III is one the very few rare times where a zombie movie actually scared me. I don't remember why that is, though. Zombie movies are suppose to be fun. But Return of the Living Dead III was like a tragic love story, but nightmare-ish.

I wish more zombie films would take inspersion from in terms of their zombies looking more grotesque and weird.

There's a nice Blu-ray of it Lionsgate on their Vestron Video labe. I have it, as well as most of their releases, it's worth tracking it down.

I'm tempted, lol! That's the one. They really knew what they were doing with the marketing with this one.

This video points out one of the big problems with modern horror films.

HOLY FUCKING SHIT!!! Just had a CRAZY ass dream or nightmare. I had dreamt that I accidentlly was watching a video of disfigure singers singing about love songs. At first I was like, oh, that's nice. But slowly it becomes an acid trip. At times I was like, that's not fucking real. These are 80s and 90 practical horror movie effects. I try to take off the video, but dream logic. Then I thought I was about to get stung and quickly woke up screaming. Kinda like the movie scenes in Fear and Loathing, Society and Nightbread. Only my dream was way worse because they look like you went TOO deep on the internet while also being on acid. While these practical make up effects are awesome.

What did you have before you went to bed? On a side note, also had a horror-type dream a few days ago (though not as wild as yours) where there was a psuedo-zombie invasion after going to a barren Target (psuedo in that they were more Sci-Fi type zombies than horror if that makes sense). I went to a parking lot and then saw the stairway to the level I parked on was suddenly gone. There was this creepy Nosferatu dude telling me to climb up a frail ladder structure which I refused to do though I think Winona Ryder (out of nowhere) did. And then that's when the zombies came in. There was also another dream that came before this but it was.................NSFW.

Hours later, right before I took a nap, I had a lot Broccoli and Tomatos.

That reminds me, this little experince reminds me of that time I saw Jacob's Ladder (the original, NOT remake). I was suffering from neruopathy at that time, so I was feeling funny on my "medication". Then I finally watched Jacob's Ladder, and holy shit, lol! What an experince. That movie was a trip. It doesn't make you jump or scream per se, but you are like this a lot of the time... Really recommend Jacob's Ladder for those who have not watched it. Kinda trippy, but has a message deep down. ![]()

A good horror movie doesn't need to rely on pitch black scenes that you can barely fucking see and also doesn't need to rely on cheap jumpscares. At least, that's just my single opinion.

The Entity is a great film, underrated and over looked. It is really a scary film that's based on a "true" story. I watched it once on TV years ago and I got it on Blu-ray last year and still need to re-watch it. This is a terrifying film, I had to sleep with the lights on after watching it.

I'm tempted, lol! That chick was so hot. I had all ROTLD movies years ago when I collected horror movies.
