This weeks random horror movie was Superdeep.
The thing with a lot of these movies is the lack of story structure. Way to many scenes that drag, as people sit and talk. The over reliance on twists. Twists only work when they are properly setup.
The other problem is I am just waiting for the cut away ending, that is being used way to much in horror movies now.

One of the positives of Blu-ray.com is that I actually won a Blu-ray copy of The Dijinn over there. Good horror flick. Feels like a horror version of Home Alone, but with a genie.

I caught this on Netflix a few days ago and really recommend it. Don't watch the spoilery trailer though. Reminiscent of the Dennis Quaid movie Frequency, but it goes in unexpected directions.

Sometimes I wonder how movies like this exist. This should be 30 minutes long.

Does Beware! Children at Play count? It's "horror" but it's so ridiculous that there is no why it wasn't intentional.

I'd share stuff like Men Behind The Sun here but I'm not sure if that would be too graphic for a public forum........

Has anyone ever been really scared by a horror movie?
When my mother was pregnant with me she saw the Exorcist. She kept my granddad up all night talking because it scared her so much.
My cousin and I saw Friday the 13th, Elm street and other movies before seeing The Exorcist.
We thought the movie was funny, heads spinning and pea soup vomit made us laugh.
I cannot say any horror movie has scarred me.

I have. The Thing terrified me when I first saw it. As well as The Exorcist.
(I have to say though, I question the film tastes of anyone who thinks the latter was "funny"........)
It's also worth noting that atmosphere is also a huge part of horror films as well. Even more so than whether it's "scary" or not.

Sleepaway Camp. Scarred me for life. My family and friends would sometimes prank me with that movie. I'm not as scared of it like I use to, but there is no way in hell I'm watching it alone at night.

Horror is my favourite genre, they're a few films that have scared me. I mean scared me, like being nervous to open the curtains and look out the window at night out of fear that there maybe someone or something looking in. That kind of fear. The Exorcist did do that for me, sort of. I feel like the hype for it will robed the movie of it's impact for first time viewers. So here's a list of the horror movies that did scare me. letterboxd.com/kingkevzilla/list/films-that-actually-scared-me/ Since Mike bout this up in another thread, "elevated horror" sucks! It's a term invented by people who don't like horror and feel ashamed for liking a horror film, so they need something to make themselves feel superior. It's aslo used by filmmakers who hate horror films, but don't want to admit to that. A lot of what they call "elevated horror" is overrated crap.

What movie would be an example of Elevated Horror?

What movie would be an example of Elevated Horror? Midsommar, Badabook, and any other stuck-up full of itself films that critics swear is the future of horror.
