I decided to make this thread based on the fact that I will not rebuy movies in UHD. However, new movies I buy moving forward will be in UHD. However, I'm so tempted at the Blu-ray prices now. Is 4K a night a day difference to you guys? I don't know, I don't have a 6K player yet. I have 4K streaming, though. But 4K streaming is inconsistent sometimes. If UHD is anything like 4K streaming, then fuck it. Blu-rays still look good.

I don't mind 4K movies. It helps to have a 4K TV though so you get the full experience. I've never really streamed anything in 4K, but from what I've watched the 4K has been consistent on the physical media side.

I remember WW84 looking not too good when I streamed it on 4K on my 4KTV. Don't know why.

Streaming quality is entirely subservient to your internet connection. I've noticed my internet used to dip sometimes while watching Youtube and it reduced the output quality of the video to compensate for the dip. Going from 480p to 144p as an example.

I have time telling the difference between 2K and 4K. But, I do know when done correctly 4K can look amazing, especially older movies that where shot on film. I feel that is what it's best used for. Video labels are doing amazing work in that regard.
Really good example is Severin films' restoration of Night Of The Demon.
I've haerd alot about modern movies not looking good 4K discs, but I haven't watch a UHD disc so I wouldn't know.
Anyway, I think 4K is as good as it gets

Sometimes newer can be better.

Modern movies not looking good in 4K is probably because movies today are usually done in 2K. Even the ones that are shot in 4K and over are scaled back to 2K, because the CGI and visuals are too expensive to do. Where as older movies were more practical and shot in 35mm film. So if anything, older movies should look better in 4K than newer movies.

And the older movies are great so it's perfect for those.
