I can't help but feel bad for those involved, this is probably one of the worst performances for a CBM ever. Though it's easy to see why it was rejected with how mid and disappointing the movie was, with it also being drowned in a sea of much better movies put out at the time.

Seen this movie the other day. It's actually not bad at all. It's way better than Black Adam. I just think the marketing was piss poor. Too bad there won't be a Shazam 3.

Agree to disagree honestly, as a big fan of the first Shazam, fuck this movie.

I don't know. I was just expecting to be worse. But at the very least this movie is passible in my opinion.

LOL. Also, this is a rare movie that I've had zero desire to revisit since seeing it in the theater. The first one is a classic, but something went wrong here.

So I guess he got impatient waiting and decided to burn the bridge himself.

I didn't think Fury of the Gods was that bad. It was certainly better than Eteranls and Ant-Man 3, in my opinion anyway. The Exorcist: Believer fucking sucks. The Exorcist is a franchise that doesn't work anymore. At that time, yes, because possession films weren't as common. Now were have The Conjuring, Evil Dead, and The Pope's Exorcist all coming out in the same year. Believer doesn't do anything fucking new.

A year after being really disappointed with this film, I finally went back and revisited it. Sadly, my opinion hasn't improved much. As a big fan of the first film it's still baffling that mostly the same team came back and made a SIGNIFICANTLY worse sequel. It's almost entirely devoid of the first film's personality and charm, and while there's bigger superhero action going on, it all feels completely weightless and uninspired. I understand it's a mid-budget CBM, but damn this movie is not pretty to look at visually. The villains are complete non-entities (played by Helen Mirren and Lucy Liu no less!), the story is unengaging, and the humor is almost entirely flat. Some genuine heart and emotion shows up in the final 20 minutes but it's just too little too late sadly. Zachary Levi and the supporting cast do the best they can with the lack of substance, and it's watchable enough, but this has no distinct identity. It's difficult to tell if there was some studio interference taking place, or if the director's heart wasn't fully into it. Aquaman 2 wasn't that great, but even that still manages to retain some of what made its predecessor work.
All that said, I think that the film getting a Worst Picture nomination at the Razzies was a bridge too far.

Wonder if DC and Marvel will slow down on planning to give EVERY superhero a trilogy after what happened with this, Wonder Woman, Captain Marvel, Ant-Man, etc.
