Supposed to see it on Sunday with family. If nobody wanted to go with me I'd probably wait for HBO, I don't usually go to the movies by myself (I did for Scream VI since I really wanted to see it)

Someone is honest in this thread and someone isn't. And I'll stop there. I'll say though that even though I didn't like Thor I still call it Love and Thunder and not something dumb like Love and Blunder.

I keep trying to be fair, I like movies from both companies.
I really don't understand or like the silliness.

At the same time our long lost friend BluBonnet defended the fuck out of those so I guess it balances out.

I don't get why someone saying that this movie is flopping/getting bad reviews got riled y'all up so bad though. Y'all loathe the other stuff I mentioned for months with a passion! Reminds me of good ol' Greasy.

Reviews are just other peoples' takes and if I listened to them and followed them blindly I wouldn't enjoy half of the movies that I find to be awesome. I am the best reviewer for me.
Shazam 2 was entertaining and actually quite funny. I found it a bit ridiculous that a group of young and healthy people given strong powers struggled to overthrow a frail old lady but other than that it was just as fun as the first. 4/5.

Let me start by saying I'm still a BIG fan of the first Shazam, I think it's a modern genre classic, I've watched it at least a dozen times and I've loved it each time. A sequel from mostly the same team sounded like a surefire winner, but the just OK trailers and apparent lack of buzz dulled my expectations a bit....
Unfortunately, I left the theater feeling mostly empty. It seems to suffer from Quantumania syndrome, throwing out most of the charm, personality, and uniqueness of the first film for a generic CGI heavy action movie. The cast is still fun and likable with what they've got, and it's nice to see these characters again, but the material they were handed feels half baked. Helen Mirren and Lucy Liu are good actresses, but they don't have much to do other than spout generic villain dialogue. The action and visuals are good for a modestly budgeted CBM, even if some elements of it feel played out. Overall I'm disappointed sadly, oh well, at least we got Scream VI this month which was great.....

Shame that this bombed so badly, as it likely means these characters are finished, but at the same time it's easy to see now why WB didn't have much faith in this.

As a movie I enjoyed Black Adam more than FoTG (but the OG Shazam destroys both movies), but damn what a massive fucking ego Dwayne has. Not wanting Black Adam and Shazam to fight or even meet is like not wanting Zod to encounter Superman!!
