hey is their any way to hide the chat? don't really like seeing it while I'm posting- okay on the homepage though I could probably move it to the top. Or maybe anywhere since chatboxes seem to be more flexible than they were in my gaming forum days. But I need to talk to the staff about it first. thanks.... let me know if you do anything with it. |

In my gaming forum days, the chatbox was only on the top of main page. So I was thinking maybe it's optional. I don't know. I can see why it may annoy some members, though. Sometimes you want to take a breather and just focus on thread discussions. Especially if it's a chat full of arguing and trolls like the gaming forums I use to go to.

Everything seems great here, everyone seems cool, and I know you all want to keep the rules light, but I strongly suggest a rule regarding no politics or religion. I've seen friends and families torn up over both. Another forum I used to post on was decimated over it. I can only imagine how many people would still be talking to each other if those subjects had been avoided, but it's hard to put those feelings back in the box after they're out. Just my opinion. Thanks for making this place.

Yeah I KINDA agree. I don't like getting into politics or religion either. The problem I have is, politics or religion sometimes gets involved in our entertainment. So while I agree, we got to find a way to balance it as well. UNLIKE Blu-rayDOTcom, who are very aware of certain controversies, yet leave those threads unlocked as a bantrap on purpose.

That is exactly what they did on another forum I used to post on, but things got so hot in that thread, it caused people who were friends to become enemies. It got really dark. Long time members left or were banned. Some were harassed outside of the forum. Those topics carry even more emotions than Marvel vs DC or Disney lovers vs haters. I understand wanting to be better than that other place, and to differentiate this place from there, but I honestly think leaving those subjects off could save a lot of friendships. That's just my anecdotal experience.

Maybe we should change the politics thread into a different name or something. All I know is, we can't just flat out ban people when Hollywood decides to get political.
