I really don't care for this. Aside from giving a popular IP a different art style, it's just boring shit story wise.
It would've been a fantastic chance to actually offer what Pokemon fans would actually love to see, instead of giving them the random-suit-thinks-their-idea-is-best routine.
Since the main anime said goodbye to Ash, it could have been great for this show to depict him older and truly becoming a Pokemon master battling stadiums, similar to how the anime Haikyu is set up (volleyball anime) or how the tournaments in One Punch Man are set up.
Failing that, there is also the character Red from the original Pokemon games that could've quite easily been made as the protagonist as we follow his journey beyond the games. It even got to the point where people animated their own story of Red making lots of fan-made content, you know, stuff fans actually want but aren't officially done.
But someone decided that hey, Pokemon fans will eat up anything so we'll create some super boring and shit idea and churn that out for a quick buck.

Why isn't this in the anime section, though? Unless this was done by Americans. Either way, I don't care. Just wonder.

It seems my understanding of what an anime is, is different from what "anime" actually encapsulates. Since my understanding has now broadened with research, thread moved.
