I grew up with Inspector Gadget, but I kinda outgrew it now as an adult. I'd probably embraced this more if I had kids anyway.

I like the Matthew Broderick movie, that's about it.

Yeah saw the Matthew Broderick version in the theater with cousins. Not a great movie, but I have good memories watching it.

I've recently seen some people saying that its sequel was better in every way. I personally really disliked Inspector Gadget 2, but that's probably because my first introduction to Inspector Gadget was the Matthew Broderick movie. I thought it was like what Thor: Love & Thunder is to Thor Ragnarok. The first one (Ragnarok) was pretty cool in its own right and even though it had humor it still worked. Then you've got the second movie (Thor Love & Thunder) Where the level of cringe and goofy slapstick-ness is increased by 200% and works to its failure.

Err... I can guess why. People who say Inspector Gadget 2 is better are likely OG fanboys of the cartoon and have shit taste in movies. Because Inspector Gadget 2 is kinda more like the cartoon, but at the same time it is worse as a movie. It is cute when Inspector Gadget acts like a goofball in the cartoon, but it is pure CRINGE in live-action. And this is coming from an OG fan and first saw Inspector Gadget 2 as a kid, and I STILL thought it was awful.
So yeah, again, Inspector Gadget 2 is more "faithful" to the cartoon, but worse than the first movie at the same time.

Yeah I just won't be able to understand those who say it's better than the first one. At least the first one was watchable and didn't have me turning it off less than halfway through.
As for the game, it seems like a fun throwback to the cartoons. I believe there's a Gameboy Color game for Inspector Gadget as well.
