This is going to be a thoughts and solutions kind of thread, that will cover a few things so I put the thread here.
First if you do not know I am a content creator. Currently I have a comic book called The Edge available.
Later this year I will be working on a streaming series about comic book creation, this will take you on the journey from script to screen.
I have a few other things I am working on that I can not discuss at the moment.
The reason I gave the above data is I want to give everyone an idea on who I am, and my experience to talk about the things I am going to discuss.
Now on with the show.
Creation of any form of entertainment, is a multiple tier event. There is not one piece of the creation process that can supersede the others.
For a comic you need a good story, good art, good colors, good letters, and design.
The same goes for movies and games, good story, good camera angles and costumes, lighting, and set design.
So what is the problem I am talking. The problem is what is usually out of the hands of the people above. Editors and Production.
We are entering into an era where non-creatives are getting involved in the creation process. Then taking no blame when things fail.
I will stop here for any commentary.

George Lucas talks about this in Empire of Dreams.
I think a lot of content has been ruined by non-creatives who just didn't understand it.

There is a lot going on in these board rooms. Like people being able to pay to get their words on screen. Something that started with product placement and has evolved. People are bring in their own script doctors and changing things ad hoc.

Is this really a new thing though? Comics have always had editors, studios have exerted their will on directors since the beginning, authors have to deal with their publisher. The only way around this is to do it all yourself. Kickstarter has been a game changer for many creative people. Amazon has allowed self publishing to explode, so much so that there's a ton of crap to wade through.

Then I was going to go on about outside influences, and the money coming in. Which would then lead into Box Office and why no one outside of the studio will ever know how much money a movie makes.

Okay so the next part of our journey. I was on a recent video stream and the topic of who is buying comics came up. Generally it seems like it is mostly the over 30 crowd, with the pool of new readers not being refreshed. Yes Manga sells. So one of the guys on the call said, he brought his son a Spider-man comic and the son asked him how much it was worth. I am not into the speculation market, and never brought a comic hoping for it to become valuable one day. This is the start of an issue with a comic no longer being seen as a form of entertainment, and is now a collectible that needs to be hidden and never read.
Thoughts?
