Americans are too attached to guns. They think it's patriotic, part of being an American to own one. That's all well and good but the few spoil it for the many.
Although you could argue by that logic that just because some weirdos use kitchen knives to stab people to death doesn't mean you should get rid of kitchen knives.
But kitchen knives at least serve an alternate non-killing purpose, to prepare food.
Guns don't really have an alternate non-killing purpose.

All a gun can do is cause harm. The main problem is that assault weapons are available to the public. This latest one the person was under mental health care, yet were able to legally by the guns. It is a multi-tier issue that starts with the background checks. Then the fact that there are 23 guns per person in the US. Then there are very few states that you have to report if your gun is lost or stolen. Guns can be purchased illegally, yet where are all the bullets coming from. |

They had zero problems banning lawn darts. Yet so no issue with regular people having weapons of war. People cannot go anywhere without fear of being killed by some deranged person, that should not be on the streets.
