I don't believe this will be a typical musical. I think they'll try to do something unique with it as part of the story. I'm honestly hyped.

Have to watch New York, New York some other time. I dislike judging a movie before finishing it, but it kinda does feel like Marty's weakest film. Still well made, but the story is kinda off. But I can see why Joker 2 might be inspired by this. The main male character is an abuser, but in love at the same time (???). So psychotically, the character is hard to relate, which is one of the reasons why I had trouble with New York, New York, but I can see this working on Joker 2.

Also New York, New York reminds me on A Star Is Born, but with the main character being a dick. Might be one of the reasons why they are getting Lady Gaga in this as well.
