That's pretty impressive given the heavy subject matter!

Just saw it. What a great movie. Love how the story was told too. ACT 1: Biopic. ACT 2: The creation of the atomic bomb. ACT 3: The aftermath. Great to see Cillian Murphy lead something for once. This is proof he CAN carry a film. Robert Downey Jr. deserves to be nominated for best supporting actor. He's actually playing a character and not himself like in the MCU movies.
9/10. Solid film.

Tuesday afternoon can't get here soon enough! IMAX 15/70mm tickets secured, will be siting in row E towards the left side in a packed house. It'll be an experience for sure.

Might be my favorite Nolan film now. I don't know. Too soon to say. Got to give it time. It is certainly better than Dunkirk and Tenet.

Nude scenes have been cencored in some countries. Would post the link, but might be a bit spoiler-ish.

Well, that was a slog to get through. Right from the start the editing felt rushed and not very well done, and felt it throughout. The way the story was cut together felt like a jigsaw puzzle that was put together to make a complete picture but with pieces in the wrong places, just forced in there. For example with some of the poor editing/story weaving/structure: The introduction of Oppen's first wife was really abrupt like it wasn't even given a thought she's just there and that's it and then he sends his kid with his second wife to his friends home to have the child raised so the wife can deal with her alcoholic issues or what seems to be alluded to, neither of these seem to get resolved including what happens to the child after his friend reportedly goes into exile, and I suppose the second wife just keeps on drinkin', because the movie sure didn't tell me what happened with that.
Then there's the black & white sections of the movie, it doesn't really indicate if this is past or present or future, because there's also the other scenes with Jason Clarke that also appear to be "present day" and it feels like both of these are competing for the "present day" or "future" scenes and it's a mess. A lack of indication doesn't help here either, even more combined with the weird editing so these scenes just randomly pop up from the "flashbacks". The soundtrack, honestly I can't even remember any standout piece. The cast is phenomenal but are underutilized, the only standout being Robert Downey Jr. near the end of the movie. As a result the movie feels like it's wasting all of the potential of all these awesome actors, which is down to poor writing for their parts IMO, and maybe also a lack of good role assignments; perhaps they could've been better utilized given a different role in the film that's more pertinent to the story. So, poor editing, poor writing, poor soundtrack, poor pacing, great cast poorly utilized, the only two good parts being Robert Downey Jr. and the fact that you can actually hear the sound mix for this one. 2/5. It wasn't for me, but don't let my experience put you off, please go see it for yourself. It's a LOT better than that 2020 Tesla movie with Ethan Hawke which was a disgrace to the original guy's legacy and memory. At least this movie does a better job of respecting the guy it's covering, I'll give it that much.

I will say this, my only nitpick with the film is that my expectations were a little too high on the atomic bomb scene. Don't get me wrong, it is still a great scene. But you can tell recreating that practically was difficult. Actually, it's not even just that. I wanted to feel horrified at the scene. I think Sarah Conner's nightmare in Terminator 2 captured the horror a bit better. Now to be fair, that happened in a city, not desert.

Well, it's not my cup of tea but I gave it a fair shot to entertain me and sadly it didn't. However, for the longest time I never liked Temple of Doom and upon a rewatch I no longer hate it, in fact I enjoyed it a lot, so perhaps in time this movie may get better whenever I decide to rewatch it in the far future. Anything goes (had to reference that).
