Might've benefitted from being an animatronic/puppet face with CGI touch ups to make it look nice.
Still, it is what it is. Someone could always just make a fan edit where they deepfake a reptile face on MODOK or something.

My main concern is whether the actual damn movie is good or not, rather than just the design of a silly supporting character.

I think I would have preferred if MODOK kept on the mask. One thing is for sure, MODOK will be a classic example how making something more comic accurate doesn't always translate well.
