The two biggest nightmares for a creative. 1. Marketing, the world changes very rapidly it is hard to keep up with a modest budget. 2. Logistics. When trying to keep printing costs down, one of the things that is missed is the cost of ink, paper, tape, and boxes.
So I am thinking that sometimes the worse part of doing comics is logistics. Packing a box, making sure the book is secure with paper and bubble wrap, going to Shipstation and creating shipping label. This has saved me so much time and money though.
Now that ComicsBurgh is a full on publisher I have to now navigate proper communication chains. Did creator of x use the #comicsburgh in their last post. Nope, now I have to remind them. Have to put alerts on calendars to make sure solicitation sheets are submitted on time.
Our first meeting with our Diamond Brand Manager is October 25. Hoping to get to some details on the Diamond Retail Summit, which is the same weekend of Baltimore comic con. So that should be an interesting weekend.
