I saw this film yesterday, it was OK. It's not the worst DCEU film by any means, and not the abomination that pre-release rumors indicated, but it's still a rather disposable affair, and a step down from the first Aquaman film.
Jason Momoa remains fun and likable in the lead role, and his dynamic with Patrick Wilson in the middle section of the movie is pretty good. The action scenes for the most part are solid, there's no shortage of unique and cool visuals much like the first film. Although there's some funky looking bits (maybe due to late stage reshoots), the CGI overall looks nice. James Wan's directorial skill shines through on plenty of occasions. The film however is quite choppy and disjointed, particularly in the first half. Black Manta is okay as a villain, his motivation is clear, but the stuff with the trident and the "Lost Kingdom" feels very random and not developed. The humor is hit-or-miss, there are quite a few funny one-liners but there are also quite a few bad ones, and there's an abundance of very cheesy dialogue. The pacing is off so the film feels longer than it actually is, and there's some jarring tonal shifts. Most of the other characters serve no purpose except popping up to help Aquaman occasionally. Although the ending is pulled straight from Black Panther, I guess it's still a fine enough end for these characters since we won't be seeing them again with the reboot.
The film is better made and doesn't waste so much potential like how Ant-Man: Quantumania did, it's not quite as generic and nondescript as Shazam!: FOTG was, and it's not so mind-numbing and visually ugly compared to The Flash. So I don't think this is the worst comic book film this year. It's serviceable entertainment. 6/10

Seems this movie is following a similar path to The Flash. I am not surprised. As soon as I saw Mera trying to bash through a door in the first trailer, I knew this movie was going to be a hard sell for quite a lot of people.
I will watch this when it hits digital, my friend will let me watch it at his house. I ain't paying when they keep an abuser in the movie. Voting with my wallet and all that.

Yeah, she's in it about as much as Jimmy Woo from Ant-Man, around 15-ish minutes.

Wut I thought I posted here yesterday. Anyways, it was a nice one time watch. It felt like a bad Stephen Sommers movie. I still can't fathom how they ruined the sequel set up that was there in the first movie, WB just can't make a decent sequel to any of these movies. Still liked it more than Flash CGI reel, Bore Beetle and Shazamid 2. Wan definitely seemed to be in autopilot mode.
I find it hilarious that he even calls Orm as Loki in one scene. Some of the other jokes were cringey, but like 2-3 of them were somewhat funny.

The holiday release was indeed a safety net preventing this from being a bigger bomb. Though I suppose it does help that this is a straightforward sequel to just the original billion-dollar hit. It doesn't give audiences the impression that they should be doing "homework" beforehand.

Yeah Aquaman 2 is advertise as a stand-alone sequel. The Marvels, however, requires you to watch the Disney+ shows. I think The Marvels even acknowledges this when Monica Rambeau explans how she got her powers within seconds. Then one of the characters was like, cool story, bro. Nobody cares.

Both are still bombs lmao but the Holiday release is helping Aquabro 2. Plus it's schlock for 2 hours rather than whatever was in The Marvels.
