They told me a few months ago to get rid of my ad blocker or else. When I failed to comply they informed me that within 3 clicks they would ban me outright. So I had to give in and am slowly getting used to it. Pisses me off how they spam me right in the middle of what I am watching, but that is the way it goes.
We get nothing for nothing in this life, everything has a price tag....everything. They often message me and ask for my overall opinion on how they are doing as to their ads. I give them my honest input as it could help us all.
They have explained it's how they survive and that they must do it that way.

It is getting WORSE. It is at a point where I'm hesitant to click on a video now.

It's up to three unskippible adds on videos now. Really need to get an add blocker.

Now they are even getting me to give opinions on the ads. I just learnt to deal with it, sort of like I do with ads on t.v. and on the radio when I'm driving.

I'm use to the ads now, the only thing that really bugs me is the awkward timing. Especially the ASMR videos. Like, you are trying to relax or sleep, then randomly an ad would appear and wake the hell out of you.

I think YouTube is aware of this, since they kinda put the ads beginning or end now Still, it kills the flow.

Another thing I dislike about YouTube are the recommendations or suggested videos are often weird and and depressing. All because I watched a video or two of something related. I go to YouTube to be entertained, but instead it is acting like the news. I avoid the news to escape "reality". Don't need to be reminded how fuck'd up the world is. Especially in my adulthood, I'm much more sensitive nowadays.

www.forbes.com/sites/thomasbrewster/2024/03/22/feds-ordered-google-to-unmask-certain-youtube-users-critics-say-its-terrifying/?sh=38f88d0b1ca7Kinda scary actually. I mean, I totally get it. There are a bunch of weirdos on the internet. The question is, how far are they willing to go. As someone who has had guns pointed in their face by marshals and got detained because of a few mistakes, this sounds like slippery slop. If you have YouTube on automatic then you might see random videos on your history that you never even watched before and YouTube will recommend weird ass videos based on what you watched or had played on when it is in automatic. AGain, I totally understand, but at the same time, the internet is such a grey area space.

That is scary. Just because you watch some crackpot's video doesn't mean you agree with them.
And you know that the feds are going to keep that info on YouTube users, despite if they are legally required to get rid of it.

Kinda reminds me of that time when StarWarsExplained blocked me from social media just because I watch Jeremy Griggs' videos. I was like, WTF!? First of all, Jeremy is super sarcastic on purpose. Second, I don't get butt hurt over someone having different political views than me. Even someone like John Campea who is a bit of a whiner and preachy when it comes to politics, but I still watch his shit.
As for the creep factor, that's always in the back of my head. Like never watch ASMR videos involving children, nor sexual ASMR in general, and make sure the person you follow or talk to is the right age. It is starting to feel weirder and weirder the older you get knowing that a lot of people, if not most, are gen z. I mean, gen z are mostly adults now, but part of being slightly older also means be a little more mature and wiser. Some gen zs are probably not fully mentally developed yet.
