"I'm about to be in the greatest superhero movie of all time" I rewatched this movie a few weeks back hoping that it'd improve a little, nah, it's still visually ugly nonsense with a few cool bits here and there. Younger Barry's laugh is irritating as shit also. I can say I never fell for that fake hype!

The Flash had pretty shit trailers TBH, but I thought the final movie was solid.
It definitely had balls to kill off Supergirl and Keaton's Batman, permanently as well! I think that didn't go down well for quite a lot of people.

I wasn't baffled by the bombing honestly. While I also really enjoyed The Flash, it doesn't alter the fact that: A) people were already sour with it because of Ezra Miller's actions, and quite a few people would not be able to separate the art from the artist B) It killed off Supergirl, a rather dumb choice since Sasha was quite an audience pull, evidenced by the awful simping and thirsting posts online C) It killed off Keaton's Batman, a classic character that people have loved for decades and, depending on your point of view, could be seen as total disrespect for the character and legacy D) There was so much shit going around about how DC is going to be changed up and James Gunn is taking over everything, moving forward with a complete DC reboot. I'm pretty sure after the whole shitshow with Justice League and how WB acted and how WB also kept Ezra in The Flash and steamed ahead that quite a lot of people were like "fuck it" and just let it stew in its own downward spiral Seriously, only those who live under a fucking rock or willfully ignore everything that was going on before The Flash released would be baffled by its failure.
But then.. Directors do tend to live in their own world and bubble separate almost entirely from reality, sometimes.

Marketing is about getting people to buy something they do not want. If you actively tell people what they are buying is worthless, generally they will not want to buy it. They should have not mentioned a reboot before the movies were released.

Precisely. They could've waited until after Blue Beetle released to hold a convention and reveal the reboot and their plans. But Gunn had to open his big mouth early. Gunn jumped the Gun.

In situations like that I kind of look at it from the Corporate side. Making that announcement was to try to get a boost from Wall Street. It should have been a big event.

I'm interested to see what they actually had the real Nic Cage doing on set.

The CW would have made a better movie with fan service than whatever WB did.

Well, he doesn't get paid in drugs. Money on the other hand.. throw enough of that at him and he'll change his mind. Keaton said something similar in the past yet he was in The Flash despite not wanting to return as the character.
And when work dries up, that pride tends to get swallowed down to return as the character to provide a career boost.
