People over emphasize how scripted and staged wrestling is. The truth is, it's a very physically demanding job. Even Mickey Rourke said wrestling took a toll on his body more so than he ever did in his boxing career. I do feel bad for laughing when Vince Mcmahon seriously torn his quads while in character. Which is why he is sitting on the ring like a child...

Yeah I should clarify I guess. I poke fun at wrestling because to me it's always been the equivalent of a woman's soap opera. That doesn't mean I don't think they work hard or aren't good athletes. The best ones clearly have charm and charisma or they wouldn't be able to break into acting like The Rock, Cena, Ventura, etc.

When someone new is coming in, first thing Mcmahon goes, okay, what character is he? He embraces the "reality TV show" formula into wrestling. Instead of pretending they are really fighting. I mean, it's literally real stunt work. But, again, it's not really a fight. |
