Wait so this is a fresh take on the manga from scratch? Because I've already watched this anime to it's end (although I did find the final episode highly disappointing). If it's a fresh take then I'm all for it. The characters look faithful in design and if this anime can offer a much more satisfying conclusion then I say hell yes.

No idea yet, but I'm confused as well because Kenshin dies in the last Samurai X movie.
